DIGHR: World TB Day 2022: How Are the Social Sciences Making an Impact? Webinar
Time: March 23, 2022; 1pm-2pm EST
This year, the theme of World TB Day is “Invest to End TB. Save Lives”; however, this call to action is not unlike the themes in 2021 and 2020, “The Clock is Ticking” and “It’s time to End TB,” respectively. This begs the question: What are we doing wrong that TB is still the world’s deadliest infectious killer, and what can we do to pivot from this? We believe that understanding TB through the social science lens is an important first step.

In this webinar, we will explore some of the research done by social science researchers in TB, understand TB-related stigma experienced by TB communities, learn about the language of TB as a tool for empowerment or disenfranchisement, and finally, explore TB through the lens of gender. Join us in discussing how social science is making an impact with experts and students in the field!

This event is a special collaboration between the Dahdaleh Institute and the Social Science & Health Innovation for Tuberculosis (SSHIFTB) Lab.
