December 3 is International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The United Nations’ 2024 theme is “Amplifying the leadership of persons with disabilities for an inclusive and sustainable future” advocating for the participation, representation and inclusion and calls for persons with disabilities to actively shape the conditions of their lives. An estimated one in four persons with TB developed TB associated disabilities due to the disease or its treatment, worsening their quality of life and stigmatization even with the achievement  of clinical cure. Rehabilitative care and social protection programs for people who encounter disabilities due to TB are scarce. SSHIFTB draws your attention to social science resources discussing disability in the context of TB, including post TB wellbeing.
