Summary
On December 10, 2024, SeeChange Initiative, in collaboration with the CINUK’s Carving out Climate Testimony: Inuit Youth, Wellness & Environmental Stewardship program, participated in an Inuit Youth Interactive Town Hall at the ArcticNet Arctic Change Conference in Ottawa.
The session, titled Guliaqtuag / Telling a Legend (Inuvialuktun) – Unikkaangualaurtaa / Let’s Tell a Story (Inuktitut), brought together Inuit youth from Nunavut and the Northwest Territories to share experiences, stories, music, and initiatives promoting well-being, cultural resilience, and environmental stewardship.
This interactive gathering provided a platform for youth to explore the intersection of traditional storytelling, climate change, and mental health. Co-chaired by SeeChange’s Naomi Tatty and CINUK’s Brian Kowikchuk, the session featured firsthand accounts of growing up in the North, discussions on intergenerational trauma, and the role of storytelling and music in healing.
