Bio Sketch
Beate Ringwald is a Lecturer at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) where she serves on the steering committee of LSTM’s Centre for TB Research and teaches qualitative and participatory research methods.
Beate leads on intersectionality, participatory, and social science TB research. Currently as part of the LIGHT Consortium, funded by UK aid, she works with partners in Kenya, Uganda, Malawi, and Nigeria to transform gendered pathways to health for those with tuberculosis in urban settings.
With a background in social education and global health, she has worked for over 20 years in civil society and academia conducting youth empowerment, community development, and global health research and programmes. Her research ensures meaningful participation of affected communities and co-creation of knowledge for action to reduce stigma, strengthen health systems, and improve well-being.
